Ilorin Durbar 2022: Mashood Mustapha donates N10m to Ilorin Emirate Unions


Ilorin born philanthropist and APC stalwart Mallam Moshood Mustapha has extended his philanthropical gesture towards the preparation of the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar.

Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar is an annual cultural festival where Ilorites (Natives of Ilorin) and surround cities come around to celebrate the Eid-Kabir festival along with the heritage show and cultural festival. It comprises of different activities that are meant to showcase the true nature and tell stories of how The popular city, Ilorin was found.

Mall. Moshood Mustapha has however donated the sum of Ten Million Naira (#10,000,000) to the Organizing committee of the Ilorin Emirates Durbar (#5m), Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (#1m), Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association ( #1m) and the Durbar football committee (#1m)

The donation was done at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Alh. Ibrahim Zulu Gambari in company of his chiefs, imams and other members of the Ilorin Emirate Organizing committee.

Mall. Moshood Mustapha during the presentation and disclosure of the donation laid emphasis on the need for more blessed sons and daughters of Ilorin to make their contribution towards the development and upkeep of the Ilorin Emirate Heritage.

He also emphasized on the need for people to stop politicizing matters that has to do with the promotion of the Ilorin Emirate Cultutal Heritage.

“I am just a politician but I am not curently holding any position. Ther are lots of politicians around that are blessed enough to contribute their quota towards this event. It will be a legacy for us when we are gone”, he said.

“Let is set politics aside and unite under this of Ilorin Emirate to push our cultural heritage forward. I did not Contest and I am not contesting. So my donation to this cause is not in anyway political motivated or affiliated”, he added.

The Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar committee, Engr. Yahaya Alapasanpa reiterated on the efforts of The Emir of Ilorin to make the upcoming Durbar a grand one. “The Emir wants us to make this very loud and a rather grand one. We are charge to showcase all aspects of our cultural heritage during the course of the festival”.

“We want to expand the scope of the festival this time around. Our food, cloth, culture, artifacts and profession shall all be exhibited during this period of festivity so as for a lot of our children to know more about where we have been coming from”, he said.

“Ilorin has Identity. The major story of ancient wanderers that settled in Ilorin to make the ancient city a popular and large one shall be told. Our children are now opened to going to shopping malls only during time of festivities as this. We want them to be attracted to their culture thereby embracing it and propagating it in years to come” he added.
