BALA IS SOMEONE TO WHO I OWE EVERYTHING!


 Alongside other gentlemen from all walks of life, I was fully on ground to share the thrills and frills with Bala and Robia, last Sunday. Ayub and I have been good friends since 2011. We crossed paths at the Department of Mass Communication, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. And ever since, it's been a smooth ride. He has no definite character. Everything good defines him. He is, no doubt a soulmate, and I wouldn’t be able to survive without having him in my life. 


He comes into people’s lives with a purpose and he changes them. He makes every single person around him better, without even realizing it. Olufadi is the person that someone can only live without if they’ve never lived with him before. He lights up every room and lifts every single person around him. You wouldn't need him before he makes himself available. Without saying a word, he has taught me what I couldn't have learnt by reading a thousand books. 


On Sunday 8th January 2023, we converged at his family house at Alanamu, to celebrate with him - one of his happiest days on earth, indisputably. Truth be told, I wasn't surprised to see people of different backgrounds and ideologies putting their discrepancies behind to celebrate with him. If anyone is worthy enough to merit that, it can only be him. He has sacrificed for many of us. He wouldn't let you feel lonely. Gladly, he offers his shoulders to lean on. He's faithful, loyal and honest. 


Many of us who were present at the Thanksgiving outing are beneficiaries of his kind-heartedness, in one way or the other. He strongly believed in us even when we had lost the confidence to believe in ourselves. He has been there for us even when we haven’t always been there for ourselves. And he cares for us before we even care for ourselves. Bala has different qualities that seem difficult to emulate. I cannot say nature was unfair in that regard, because he is using most of them to our advantage. 

Bala is courteous. Humble. Selfless. Innovative. Kind. Committed. Confident. He would go to war for you even without giving it a second thought. Sacrificing you wouldn't ever be an option for him. He would do it without looking back. He's made differently as a bridge-builder. This is just who he is, and it makes him the most beautiful soul I have ever known. Because his love isn’t fearful, or weak. It’s the most powerful force that I have ever felt—indestructible and unconditional.


Dear Bala, I know you will never see yourself in the way that I have written here, but just know that I see it in you every single day. It’s why you deserve the world. Because you change it. So, as you take a step forward to fulfil one of the sacred duties the Prophet expected of his followers, may you succeed like those before you. May the two of you (imperfect pieces) fit perfectly together. As every love story is special, unique and beautiful, may yours be one of the favourites.
