NO EXAMS FOR STUDENTS WITHOUT 75% ATTENDANCE___Jimoh Abdul

The Rector of Kwara state polytechnic, Ilorin, Engr. Dr Abdul Jimoh Mohammed has affirmed that the polytechnic will not permit any student that is unable to meet the 75% class attendance requirement to sit for examinations when the time comes.

Abdul made this known in his speech at the polytechnic's first Open Distance Flexible Electronic Learning (ODFeL) students' matriculation day held at the Rear Admiral Mohammed Alabi Lawal auditorium, Kwara state polytechnic, Ilorin, recently.

He emphasised that the polytechnic has made every provision for the convenience of student's stay in the polytechnic by providing more lecture rooms, furniture, 24 hours internet connectivity, solar-powered boreholes in some of the hostels and solar-powered lights from various hostels to designated classrooms which are targeted at encouraging night classes as well as expel all forms of atrocities that are usually carried out at late hours.

"I need to inform you that failure to fulfil 75% lecture attendance will result in forfeiture of your studentship in the polytechnic. The quality which the polytechnic expects from you include honesty, politeness, tolerance, preservarence, punctuality and regularity at lectures and the fear of God" he said.

Speaking further, Abdul said the polytechnic is with the mandate of providing middle-level manpower for the economy and has equally discovered that students need to be exposed to practical aspects of their course of study to make them job creators after graduation with the provision of Centre for Skill Acquisition in collaboration with Prototype Engineering Development Centre (EDC) through TETFund.

However, he advised students to be law-abiding and to not display any form of indecency in the polytechnic so as not to retract their stay in the polytechnic.
